2022 Doctor of Distinction
We are very pleased, honored and privileged to announce the following:
- Dr. El Shahawy was the recipient of The Lifetime Achievement Award Citation from the City of Sarasota Mayor Erik Arroyo on February 4, 2022, for contributing to the practice of medicine and cardiology over a lifetime in Sarasota (over 46 years) along with other achievements (Citation attached).
- Dr. El Shahawy was pleased and honored also to receive the proclamation from the Mayor of Sarasota proclaiming:“February 4, 2022, as Dr. El Shahawy Day in recognition of his 48 outstanding years of dedication to our community healthcare and cardiovascular disease prevention”, (see attached).
The above awards were bestowed upon Dr. El Shahawy without his previous awareness during the opening ceremony for our very successful 22nd Annual National CardioSarasota Congress at the Sarasota Hyatt Regency, which Dr. El Shahawy chaired on February 4-5, 2022. The Congress was hosted in person by 22 of the most renowned professors of cardiology worldwide including the current President of the World Heart Federation Professor Dr. Fausto Pinto, and the current President of the American College of Cardiology Professor Dr. Dipti Itchhaporia along with many other Professors as seen in the group picture attached. Many thanks to SNN television news for the whole weekend coverage of this event as noted in the attached clip.
3. Dr. El Shahawy was also pleased and honored to be named 2022 Doctors of Distinction by Sarasota Scene Magazine (see attached).
Last but not least Dr. El Shahawy stated:
“There is nothing more rewarding to a healthcare provider than the recognition and award by the leader and residents of the community where he has lived, served and practiced most of his life” (Dr. El Shahawy has lived and practiced for over 46 years in Sarasota).
Dr. El Shahawy thanked all those who contributed to his life achievement awards over the past 6 decades since his graduation from Vienna Austria Medical School including but not limited to family, office staff, colleagues, friends, medical students, residents, Fellows in Cardiology, Sarasota Memorial HealthCare Foundation and the El Shahawy Family Foundation. Also, thanked the Sarasota City Mayor Erik Arroyo and the Sarasota community for the appreciation, recognition, and support.
Dr. El Shahawy feels that the recognition by the City Mayor and the Sarasota community, where he spent most of his life (over 46 years) is as rewarding and enjoyable as 60 years ago when he graduated as First in Class from the University of Vienna, Summa Cum Laude and was given the Austrian Ring of Honor by the Austrian President, in person at a special graduation ceremony (picture attached) and subsequently was awarded the Egyptian Medal of Honor by the Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser (pictures attached).
Dr. El Shahawy pledges that he will continue the same type of service until the last days of his life.
Congratulations to Dr. El Shahawy from all the office staff.
